Ishani Mehta
Vice President of School Quality
Dr. Ishani Mehta is a mission-driven education leader with 15 years of experience leading and supporting high-performing schools across the country. As Vice President of School Quality at Equitable Facilities Fund, Ishani leads the development and execution of EFF’s school quality methodology—ensuring capital is invested in schools and leaders that are truly making an impact.
Before joining EFF, Ishani served as Superintendent at ReGeneration Schools, where she oversaw networks in Chicago and Cincinnati and led academic gains that consistently outperformed both city and state averages. She previously held multiple leadership roles at Uncommon Schools, including Middle School and Elementary School Principal, where she drove double-digit increases in state test proficiency, improved teacher retention, and built sustainable systems to support student growth.
A first-generation Indian American and lifelong advocate for educational equity, Ishani holds degrees in English and Psychology from the University of Michigan, a Master’s in Special Education from Hunter College, and a Doctorate in Education from Vanderbilt University, where she was awarded the Arville W. Wheeler Prize for excellence in educational leadership.
Outside of work, Ishani loves spending time with her family, especially her niece and nephew. A proud Michigan sports fan, she enjoys the excitement of game days just as much as exploring new places through travel. She also draws creativity and inspiration from the arts and design, an outlet that recharges her in the day-to-day.
