Vice President of Talent
Cornelius leads EFF’s efforts to build and retain a best-in-class team of mission-driven education finance professionals. He also oversees all professional development, team culture and human resources functions for the fund. Above all, Cornelius serves as a relentless champion of our team’s diversity, equity and inclusion values, ensuring that our people reflect our promise – to support equitable school facilities for all.
Prior to joining EFF, Cornelius was a Partner at the talent solutions firm, Promise54, where he supported social impact organizations to examine and refine their talent systems and organizational culture through a DEI lens. As the Associate Director of Leadership Development at Education Pioneers, he oversaw programs and operations at 11 regional sites for up to 500 fellows each year, helping to drive systems-level change in public education.
Cornelius brings a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in America’s most deserving public schools to the EFF team. As an intern, educator and resident principal in Chicago Public Schools and Boston Public Schools, he used data, professional development and best practices to train fellow educators in service of better outcomes for students.
A Texas native, Cornelius received a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Nonprofit Administration from Western Kentucky University, an M.A. in Teaching from Dominican University, and an M. Ed. in School Leadership from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. He is a member of The City of Chicago’s Advisory Council on LGBTQ+ Affairs and is an adjunct professor at Dominican University’s Graduate School of Education.
